Business Advocacy: New Salem Fire Services, Salem PD Business Outreach, Special Session Preview & Regulatory Update

Salem Chamber Members are invited to join us at our monthly Business Advocacy Meeting on August 7 as our community receives several key policy updates at both the local and state levels.

Come hear from the Salem Fire Chief about developments at the department, including the transition to taking over the City of Salem's ambulance services, learn how the Salem Police Department is working with Salem businesses, receive an update on a potential state transportation package being worked on at an upcoming special legislative session, and more.

Speakers and Topics:

1. Salem Chamber lobbyist Nicole Palmateer Hazelbaker (Bravio Communications) will provide a preview of the upcoming special session and potential transportation package.
2. Paloma Sparks, Oregon Business & Industry Executive VP and General Counsel will speak about the regulatory environment and legislative outcomes of OBI's agenda.
3. Salem Fire Chief Dave Gerboth will present about the department's new role in providing ambulatory services and discuss the City Council's recommendation for a Co-Response Model to efficiently and effectively provide both medical and mental health services for unhoused population calls.
4. Salem Police Department Sergeant Trevor Morrison will speak about new efforts by our police department to coordinate with Salem business owners.
5. Salem Main Street Board Member Derek Gilbert will present the downtown business perspective in regard to public safety and will provide an update on meetings between business owners and the City of Salem.
